CIMT as a fixture: WFL once again on board

The CIMT will run April 21st – 26th 2025 in Beijing. From around the globe, the industry gathers to discover the latest in innovations and technologies changing our future through advanced and traditional manufacturing, robotics, automation, and digital trans-formation. The M30 MILLTURN – the so-called WFL “The little one for everything” – will be presented at the booth of WFL.

WFL customers enjoy tailor-made solutions. Complete machining is subject to different demands today, which is why WFL is always on the ball, striving to integrate a wide range of technologies, measuring tasks, finish machining operations, gear teeth and much more into their MILLTURN complete machining centres, all to suit the customer‘s needs. Right from the very start, our motto has been “clamp once – machine complete“. That is and remains our goal. Machining operations are increasing in complexity, so we are responding accordingly and ramping up our technological processes. However, we focus on more than just the machining operation itself; we cover the entire process. And by this we mean defining the machining process, workpiece programming, simulation, production and finally, support throughout the entire service life of a machine. We want to play our part in maximizing productivity.

WFL’s objective is to always exceed its customers’ expectations in terms of quality, reliability, and efficiency. Reducing the amount of clampings decreases the risk of clamping errors and consequently improves the process quality. Embodied automatic measuring solutions ensure highest possible process quality. These measurement readings can be recorded and monitored in the WFL Process Monitoring advanced software. This helps the traceability that is required for such aerospace components.

In terms of productivity benefits customers enjoy from the implementation of WFL’s machine tools, the main advantage being the reduction in the amount of different machines required to produce a part. This reduction in complexity has many positive effects on the customers production environment. For example, less workpiece clampings, results in less complexity and simpler production planning. Furthermore, a large tool magazine helps in changeover times since all tools can be kept in the machine for different parts or different clampings. Lately highest rigidity for efficient machining of exotic alloys and the compact design of the machine, as well as the latest in-machine cutting-edge metrology in conjunction with process control software round off the total package.

The little one for everything

The multifunctional turning-boring-milling center M30 MILLTURN allows complete machining of complex shafts and chuck parts with a swing of up to 520mm and machining lengths of up to 2000mm. It can thus function as a lathe, a 5-axes machining centre and if needed as a gear-cutting or deep-hole drilling machine.

With this machine, the focus lies on the improved design of various machine components and further increases in reliability. Thanks to the diverse range of innovations and modernisations in the areas of functionality, ergonomics and optimised serviceability, the smallest WFL MILLTURN is a powerful complete machining package that is available at a very attractive price.

The machine casing is equipped with large windows to ensure optimum visibility of the working area. Special attention has to be paid to the user-friendly access to the tool magazine (from the front via the large sliding window). Another advantage is a state-of-the-art robust NC drive for the steady rest slide. The machine base guarantees quick set-up and repositioning of the machine. Talking about user-friendliness: within the working area, integrated LED lamps provide long-lasting lighting.

Professional Support all over the world

The WFL service hotline provides daily support and is staffed exclusively by experienced service experts. We guarantee that a competent contact person will be there to help solve your issue at the very first contact.

Teleservice enables for example our service technicians to communicate with your MILLTURN via the internet. It is possible to determine the machine state, query messages displayed, edit programmes and perform software updates. This means that any problem can be pinpointed as quickly as possible and be resolved online. Precise diagnostics via Teleservice means that any deployment of service technicians on-site can be optimally prepared in advance.

In order to use Teleservice, the corresponding software must be installed on the machine. The encrypted connection is established online and via proxy server. If the machine is still under warranty (standard warranty or warranty extension agreement), the free use of Teleservice is included.

Anytime ready for action thanks to the repair and maintenance service: Whether regular maintenance, specific repair works or a general overhaul, we will make your MILLTURN ready for use again in the shortest time possible. Based on detailed troubleshooting and error analysis, efficient maintenance is planned and professionally performed by a WFL service technician.

When was the last time you had your WFL Millturn given a "health check" or serviced by a professional who knows your WFL Millturn inside out? An unproductive standstill of your MILLTURN has to prevented - regular maintenance measures within a service agreement (maintenance agreement or warranty extension agreement) or preventative machine inspections minimize the risk of unforeseen standstills.

In order to ensure the desired productivity and availability of your MILLTURN, regular preventative maintenance is vital. The regular maintenance prevents production downtime and ensures the consistent quality of the workpieces. Our service agreements offer you this vital maintenance work at calculable costs.

myWFL – Operational Data Acquisition

At CIMT, visitors can also find out all about the software for operational data acquisition myWFL Cockpit. Machine and program states over time, productivity and technical availability are visualised on the machine control, on a PC or on a mobile device using a browser. This means that the user is always perfectly informed about the productivity of the machine.

The energy consumption meter myWFL Energy is integrated in myWFL Cockpit and records the current performance data as well as the energy and compressed air consumption per workpiece. The Condition Monitoring Cycle continuously logs the condition of the axes and spindles during a measuring run. The data is then stored on the machine control. Possible changes can be easily detected and conveniently displayed thanks to the Condition Monitoring Viewer.

With the tool called myWFL Health Check, the machine geometry is checked by semi-automatic measurement of the B-axis and tailstock as well as the main and counter spindle. The software also includes cycles and test equipment for measuring and logging the geometry. myWFL Health Check can be used and retrofitted on all machine types and controls, regardless of whether the machine is equipped with a pick-up magazine, a prismatic tool changer or an automatic tool control. The entire programme takes about 25 minutes. Long-term trends can be identified thanks to the integrated measurement data logging.

With myWFL you never lose track of the big picture, and you can exploit the optimisation potential for the smart factory. The software not only has a user-friendly visualisation, but also improves machine utilisation. All data in the production environment is collected and analysed to achieve higher productivity. Shorter production times and a more effective organisation of smart factory processes therefore go hand in hand. A significant advantage.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you at the CIMT exhibition in hall A3, booth 901!
